The problem
Having implemented an Excel system to help manage projects, we were finding it took a great deal of time and effort to collect and collate the timesheets into useful reports. This was time that could have been used for more productive activities.
We also found it hard to predict expenditure at the project level and consequently found assessing the profitability of a project was quite difficult. Getting a clearer picture of how our appointments were performing was a key objective of finding a new system - ultimately helping to drive up the profitability of the practice.
We reviewed several options on the market, including Noveos Practice Manager and ArchiOffice. After a visit from a IRIS PROJECTminder consultant, we decided that PROJECTminder mapped exactly to our business and was the right system for UL Architects. In a practical sense, this meant that we could get up and running very quickly - in fact from placing the order to logging in our first time sheet was only 2.5 weeks.

We have had very few user issues and found PROJECTminder to be intuitive and self-explanatory. When support has been required, the solutions have always been implemented promptly or given clear planning of when they will be. If not, there has always been a solid reason. IRIS PROJECTminder are also open to new feature suggestions and comments - many of which get implemented as part of their upgrade process.
- At least half a day per month of time is saved compared to our Excel system.
- Chasing timesheets is virtually a thing of the past as the time entry is very intuitive and easy. The few sheets which do need chasing are instantly flagged by the Timesheet Tracking report.
- PROJECTminder gives a clear picture of the time that each project is taking and when it is taking place. The work stage planning is very clear and self-explanatory.
- PROJECTminder has automated our time management and made it all very easy; time sheets are now always up to date.
